You Wonder

(Mick Kennedy)

You wonder where your life is going
When you wake up with a sigh
And put your head under the blanket
To block the sunlight from your eyes
You wonder what the hell is going on
Here inside your head
That makes it so darn difficult
To get your ass out of the bed

Your feet are tired and heavy
From carrying that load
And your eyes can't see the distance
To the end of the road
Your sleep is short and restless
And you wake up in a sweat
And you dread the things the day will bring
Though it hasn't started yet

Well there's a sense of loss that haunts you
Each and every day
And the feeling that you're falling
Is never far away
Your friends all live in bottles
Their blood is beer and wine
Living out their misery
"One day at a time"

Your workplace feels like prison
Your job like doing time
Your social life a sentence
For some horrendous crime
All around you there are vampires
That just want to suck you dry
Sometimes at night, without the light
You just break down and cry

Now I don't want to get you down
Just know I understand
And for everybody's nightmares
There'll always be a helping hand
Don't let that black dog get to you
He's a villain in disguise
He'll fill your heart with sadness
He'll fill your head with lies

And don't feel that you're the only one
Whose life feels just like shit
When that brown stuff hits the fan my friend
We all catch a little bit
Come fighting from your corner
Put a smile upon your face
Be thankful you're a member of
This goddam human race

You wonder where your life is going
When you wake up with a sigh
And put your head under the blanket
To block the sunlight from your eyes
You wonder what the hell is going on
Here inside your head
That makes it so darn difficult
To get your ass out of the bed
